Landmiles Set By Boko Haram Kills 7 Hunters, 19 injures


According to report reaching pmtv gist recently, about 30kilometers away from Maiduguri, Borno state capital, seven hunters were reportedly killed and about 19 injures by the landmiles set by Boko haram insurgency in Borno state.

The land miles was reportedly destroy the vehicle of the local hunters looking out for Boko haram members who has stole cows from the nearby community, Jere local government area of the state, which also get about 19 others hunters injured and seven confirmed dead.

The senator representing Borno capital senator Kashim Shettima, and representative representing Jere federal constituency at house of assembly Ahmed Satomi confirmed the report on Wednesday 30th December 2020.

Rep Satomi said its was a sad incident that seven hunters lost their lifes to landmines set by the Boko haram members and 19 others injured.

He also stated that report reaching him is that, the hunters were alerted that Boko haram has cart away some cows from the nearby community and the hunters decided to pursue them but unfortunately they were killed by landmines by the Boko Haram.

This happened on their way, after a village known as Kayamla in Konduga, after Alau Dam, they were hit seriously with land miles and had to call for backup from nearby units. Nearby by units who are also local hunters later come for backup loaded in a truck with about 20 other hunters to support the first vehicle, and on the pursue they were hit by another land miles making it two which later killed 7 out of the hunters and others were seriously injured.

Meanwhile a survivor from the land miles incident says they were about 19 in the vehicle when they suddenly hear a loud banger.

He also narrated how their first tyre of the Toyota cruiser truck hit by Boko haram bomb. We though it was just normal tyre burst but we later discover it was bomb. While trying to change the tyre, we spotted some boko haram members which made us fire at their directions and also calling for back immediately, the Boko haram later fled and leave some cows behind.

He said the backup team later arrived and started chasing after the insurgents who had already gone far in the bush. He said after the chase as they were coming back their vehicle ran over a massive bomb and their vehicle tossed in the air which kills nine of them and nine were injured seriously.

Sa' Ina Buba, the state commissioner for youth and sport confirms the sad incident during the burial of the killed hunters in Maiduguri said he was sad by the death of this gallant officers who risk and lost their life to protect the lives of the residents.
